Recently I heard that FatChance does sometimes turn on the Hip Drops portion of Shoulder Shimmy / Hip Drop. I'd never heard of this before. If it is true, does anyone know of video showing this move? Thanks!

FCBD doesn't turn on the hip drops, only the shoulder shimmy part. I've seen other troupes do this.In class today, actually, Carolena talked about this; she pointed out that when the hip drops into the center, it's grounding and centering - which means that it's awkward to travel with it. When it lifts, as in the Pivot Bump, it can generate motion. In short: travel on the shoulder shimmy, stay in place on the hip drops.

Thanks much, Janet. That makes perfect sense and is what I had always thought. Whew.
