Hello! My troupe has been asked to dance on cobblestone, and we'd like to find a portable, more dancer friendly surface.  Any ideas?

We danced on cobblestones last week and it wasn't nice underfoot, plus dancing felt heavy and uncontrolled … and definitely no spins!  Not doing that again and will ask the organiser next time if they can provide stage blocks or something.Maybe it's best to ask if the organiser could provide a safe dance surface for you? 😉

A roll of linoleum flooring?? Though it might be difficult to transport…

Wear shoes.  China flats work pretty well for cobblestone, but you'll still be limited in movement.  You can also assess the space once you get there and arrange with the organizer to make space in a better spot.  Don't bring your own flooring.  As a performer, you are only getting paid to dance (which already includes the time you took to get ready and the commute).  The event/venue should provide adequate dance space/surface, a safe place to put your dance bag and a sound system that is not a boom box + someone to play your music.  You're there to provide entertainment and the overall mystery should not be broken by doing these technical tasks.
