Hello all,I'm really stuggling with a student who doesn't seem to hear rhythm or the beat.  We'll listen to a easy song and identify the beat and count it out 1-2-3-4 and have her clap it out.  Then, we drill a move counting out the parts with no music.  We then turn on the music and I tell her then to match the movement with the beat of the song.  One or the other drill goes fine.  Putting them both together and she has a hard time matching to movement with the beat so she ends up like 2 beats behind me.  I can't figure out how to say or teach differently.  Any help or advice would be much appreciated.Zina

I think there were some old threads in the GS/TT group that talked about this!

Jenny, did you find your answer in the archives?  If so, post the link here.  It's a good question!  🙂

Hi Sandi, thanks so much for asking. I found one that asked the similar question but the response seemed to be that it is a medical condition.  I'm on my phone so am not sure linking to the thread will work. Thank you again.Zinahttp://fcbd.com/smf/index.php?topic=280.msg2525#msg2525

For some reason I can't access the link you posted, Jenny, but these are two that I found that might help (both in the GS/TT group, so I guess not everyone can access those) http://fcbd.com/smf/index.php?topic=632.0  http://fcbd.com/smf/index.php?topic=602.0
