United States | | Description: | The members of Troupe Sicorae are bellydancers. Not just any kind of bellydancers, but Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydancers. While all forms of bellydance involve similar skills, roots, and movements, Improvisational Tribal Style has been said to have an “earthy” feel. Think more sea shells than sequins. We would be the warriors of the bellydance world.
Our dance is always done as a spur of the moment creation. None of it is prepared or choreographed ahead of time. Instead, when you learn Improvisational Tribal Style bellydance, you learn to speak a dance language. A language spoken and understood by all of the dancers in our troupe. Through this language we create the visual art that the audience experiences on the spot and in the moment.
Each time we dance it's different just as we ourselves are different on any given day. Whether we feel differently or the music strikes us differently or the atmosphere makes us feel differently. So our art, our dance, is constantly evolving and changing just as we evolve and change as people, women, artists, and dancers.
