“Radha Rani (Only One)”
A traditional choreography by Guru Pakar Charan Das recounts the flirtation between lovers in the springtime. The song describes the radiance of Radha’s beauty and Lord Krishna’s allure while they exchange glances in the forests of Gopapura. We can see the adorable qualities of Radha as if through the eyes of Lord Krishna himself. During the color festival, Holi, the two lovers throw water and color on each other and chase each other through the forest. This dance weaves together the intimate glances of Krishna and Radha and expresses characters in both theatrical movements (Abhinaya) and aesthetic dance postures (Nritta) used in the Odissi classical repertoire.
music: Radha Rani (arranged by Guru Padma Cheran Dehury)
