Haramaki comes from the Japanese words hara, meaning the center of the body, and maki, meaning ‘to wrap up.’
Dancers love the Maki as a belly warmer during rehearsals and classes. Wear it over the bust and pulled down to the hips, scrunched around the midsection, or doubled over as a mini skirt. The Maki is also a great way to smooth the bulk of jeans when wearing a form-fitting tee shirt and pantaloon waistbands when wearing a Choli Dress.
